Disney military tickets can be a really good deal. We’ve used military discounts for travel for years, and they can make a Disney trip considerably more affordable.
But military tickets also come with rules that regular Disney tickets don’t always have.
And some of those rules are easy to miss.
So if you’re thinking about using the Disney Military Salute tickets for a 2026 trip, here’s what I think you should know before you buy them.
First: Not Every Veteran Qualifies
This is probably the most important thing to clear up.
Being a veteran does not automatically mean you qualify for Disney’s Military Salute tickets.
For the 2026 offer, eligible service members include active-duty and retired members of the U.S. military, including qualifying members of the National Guard, Reserves, Coast Guard and Space Force, along with the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service and NOAA.
There is also an important exception for 100% disabled veterans. Shades of Green specifically states that a veteran who is 100% disabled can use the Disney Military Promotional tickets if they have the appropriate 100% DAVPRM Uniformed Services ID issued through DEERS/RAPIDS.
A VA Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC), VA benefits paperwork or a disability letter is not accepted for the Disney Military Promotional/Salute ticket. Shades of Green says the qualifying Uniformed Services ID is required.
That distinction matters because Shades of Green also sells regular discounted Disney theme park tickets to a broader group of eligible veterans under the Disabled Veterans Equal Access Act. Those are not the same thing as Disney’s Military Salute promotional tickets.
Military Salute tickets ≠ regular military-discounted Disney tickets.
Eligible spouses can also purchase Military Salute tickets with the required valid military identification.
Because the eligibility wording can be confusing, I would verify your specific eligibility and ID before making plans around the discount. Shades of Green’s current ticket FAQ spells out the 100% disabled veteran requirement and accepted ID.
How Much Are Disney Military Tickets in 2026?
For 2026, Disney is offering several Military Salute options:

The Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket is different from the traditional 4-, 5- and 6-day tickets. It can be used for repeat visits during the offer period, subject to Disney’s rules and reservation requirements.
For someone planning more than one Disney trip during the year, that one is definitely worth doing the math on.
Yes, You Still Need Park Reservations
This is one of the big differences people can miss.
Disney has eliminated theme park reservations for many guests using regular date-based tickets, but Military Salute tickets still require park reservations.
I would actually check Military Salute reservation availability before buying the tickets.
Once you have your tickets linked to My Disney Experience, make those park reservations. I would not buy the tickets and then leave this sitting on the to-do list until a week before vacation.
But don’t worry about this as much. It is rare that the parks are completely booked out. If the one you want is completely booked out, you can adjust your plans and possibly park hop later.
Watch the Blackout Dates
The 2026 Military Salute tickets have blackout periods:
March 29 through April 11, 2026
and
November 22 through November 28, 2026
The offer also ends December 18, 2026.
If you’re planning around spring break, Thanksgiving or a December holiday trip, this is something I would check very carefully before buying.
Where Should You Buy Military Disney Tickets?
You have several options.
Disney says Military Salute tickets can be purchased through participating military ticket offices, including Shades of Green, as well as at Walt Disney World.
There can also be a tax advantage to buying through a military ticket office or Shades of Green rather than buying at a Disney theme park ticket window.
All tickets are now delivered through email. This makes it really easy. I have actually called the local MWR here in San Antonio and purchased them. They followed up with an email giving me numbers to put into My Disney Experience. I could then make park reservations. So easy!
How Many Tickets Can You Buy?
Generally, an eligible service member or spouse may purchase up to six Military Salute promotional tickets during the offer period, and one of those tickets must be used by the eligible service member or spouse.
There is a different rule for an eligible service member or spouse who has a valid Walt Disney World Annual Pass. In that situation, Disney allows up to five promotional tickets without requiring the eligible person to use one of them.
As a spouse, I have purchased the tickets with and without my husband. I have done this at the MWR and at Shades of Green. Both were super easy. I just showed my dependent ID card.
This is one of the rules I would verify again when purchasing, especially if you’re planning a larger family trip.
Don’t Forget About Activation
Military Salute tickets have to be activated, and valid military identification is required.
Activating them was super easy, again with or without my husband. They just asked me for my dependent ID card and to scan the MagicBands for the tickets I was activating.

Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus?
All of the 2026 Military Salute tickets include a Park Hopper option.
Park Hopper lets you visit more than one Walt Disney World theme park on the same day.
For another $30, the Park Hopper Plus version adds access to additional Disney experiences, including eligible water parks and certain other activities. The number of additional visits depends on the length of the ticket.
Would I automatically spend the extra $30?
We personally do not opt for the water park option. San Antonio has its own SeaWorld, so we figure we get plenty of that here. You and your family may think it is worth it.
For the price? I’d say if you are going to use it, definitely add it! Also check Disney’s current promotions. Disney sometimes offers water park promotions, so it is worth checking what is available for your travel dates. It never hurts to ask!
Don’t Miss the Military Memory Maker Discount
There’s another military discount that is easy to overlook.
Eligible military guests can purchase a specially priced Memory Maker for $98 during the 2026 offer period.
If you like getting the PhotoPass pictures—especially if this is a big family trip—that can be worth considering.
You can easily add this on when you activate your military tickets. Again, super easy. I think I have actually purchased the Memory Maker at all four parks!
What I Would Do Before Buying
If I were planning a Disney trip with Military Salute tickets, I wouldn’t start by buying tickets.
I’d start with the trip itself.
Figure out how many park days you actually want. Check the blackout dates. Verify that you’re eligible. Check Military Salute park reservation availability. Then compare the available tickets and decide which one actually fits the trip.
Once the tickets are purchased, I’d link them to My Disney Experience and make the required park reservations rather than leaving that step for later.
And I’d make sure we have the proper military ID with us when it’s time to activate them.
Are Disney Military Tickets Worth It?
For an eligible military family planning a Walt Disney World vacation, they absolutely can be.
But I wouldn’t buy them simply because the word discount is attached to them.
Look at how many days you’re actually going to the parks, whether you’ll use Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus, whether your dates fall within the offer period, and what other ticket options are available to you.
The best deal is the ticket that actually fits your trip.
